This morning, Year 6 had the pleasure of working with both Neil and Rob. They provided

an experience in which team work was

paramount.

In groups, children had to move their tyres and themselves from one end of the hall to

to other. They tyres were used as stepping stones, one placed in front of the other.

If a team member touched the floor the whole team including the tyres were sent back to start again.

The teachers observed some great leadership qualities along with cooperation.

The children have the opportunity to reflect on the good, bad and better (ways to improve) their team working ability.

It is now time to sit back and watch the Karate Kid, with popcorn, yummy!

Thursday

Today,

Year 6 had an exciting day in school,

creating art and making their own lunch. On the menu was homemade pizza, jacket potato and fresh salad. The children had a lot of fun making and eating their pizza.

Mrs Troy's was busy working with one group to recreate two of London's famous icons, Big Ben and the Gherkin.

Jamie and Josh working hard to create the top of Big Ben.

Emre had a very important job of designing the top of Big Ben.

Miss Littler's group had an Art pack which came with two different materials. Children had to use their imaginations using this equipment to create a unique design.

Ibrahim is modelling one of the sponge materials they needed to use in order to create their design.

Harriet and Lucy are both proud of their finished product.

Fairlop Waters, Day Two.

It was rather windy out on the lake today, however this made for perfect sailing conditions. Children were again rotated around three activities in their groups.

Activity 1 - sailing in the Seaway Boats

Activity 2 - sailing in the large Ketch

Activity 3 - power boating.

Georgie, one of the instructors, quickly demonstrates how to correctly attach the sail to the mask. There was a lot to take in.

The children are very excited to be on the seaways. They found it difficult to put the sails up as the wind kept battering the sail about.

All children were very lucky to have a turn driving the speedboat.

Fairlop Waters

All children had a fun day today, learning new skills and techniques. Children were placed into three groups where they rotated around two boating experiences, bell boating and canoeing. Before entering the water, children participated in a warm up exercise, where they formed a circle and held their paddle in one hand. Their objective was to quickly take the place of the person standing next to them and grab the paddle before it fell to the ground. This caused a lot of laughter amongst everyone as it was much harder than it appeared.

It was now time to head for the water. Some children were a little scared as this was their first time, others were very excited and had no fear. Most managed to stay afloat, however Godwina and Jennifer were not so fortunate. Both girls thought it would be a good idea to race another boat, instead of winning they capsized. They were quickly rescued and taken ashore where a nice warm shower awaited them.
